Sleek and Modern Washington DC Indian Wedding

Sneha and Vijay’s traditional Indian wedding was a long time coming and fate had tried to intervene time after time. The couple had many chance encounters for years leading up to their official introduction. Vijay’s cousin finally took matters into her hands and set up a dinner for the two to meet. After a 7 hour first date in New York City and a second date immediately scheduled the universe could rest.

After a proposal in Italy, we started working with Sneha and Vijay’s to plan their traditional two-day Indian wedding celebration in Washington DC. The weekend kicked off with a Sangeet at the Ronald Reagan Building. The colorful decor included a custom dancefloor, bar and food stations and a decorative rickshaw to display favors of bangles and bindis. The evening was rounded out with food prepared from family recipes and a famous singer from India. The Sangeet decor was a nice contrast to the sleek and modern design the following day.

The wedding day began with a traditional ceremony with a modern aesthetic. The ceremony decor included greens, whites and golds which popped against the Woodrow Wilson Plaza in the heart of Washington DC. Guests we greeted with chai tea, lassi. chilled watermelon and cold towels to stay cool during the August ceremony. Sneha was escorted into the ceremony by her uncles down a raised white aisle.

Later that evening, guests we welcomed to the JW Marriott Washington DC for dinner and dancing. We carried the sleek green, white and gold palette through the evening's Indian wedding reception. Details included a custom gold and white dancefloor, custom bars and acrylic menu cards each with hand applied gold leaf. The evening was topped off with an over the top 5' wedding cake with green, gold and marble tiers.
